ICAAM Report 2022
The report can be accessed at: ICAAM 2022 Report. The ICAAM 2022 Report outlines the mission, history, and focus of the Indianapolis Commission on African American Males (ICAAM), a research and policy organization dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by Black males in Indianapolis. Reestablished in 2020, ICAAM highlights alarming trends in violence, particularly rising homicide rates among Black women and persistently high rates among Black men, and emphasizes the need for better interventions for individuals aged 25 and older. The report also stresses mental health as a top community concern, presenting data on service gaps and proposing solutions such as community-based mental health programs, mobile response teams, and school-based interventions. ICAAM advocates for continued investment in education, mentorship, family-focused initiatives, and mental health support, while seeking funding to grow as a standalone policy and research organization. Plans for the future include hosting community conversations and shaping policy around unmet mental health needs, education, and the experiences of Black men ages 25–34.
